My husband and colleagues call me Támara. Family and friends call me Tammy. My church family calls me Lady Tam. While on field trips and volunteering at my kids’ school, I’m Mrs. Walters. But my personal favorite is Mom. I’m a happy combination of all 5!
So, here’s a little about me:
My name is Tamara Walters and I am originally from Washington, D.C.; I currently reside in the Southern Maryland area. I am enrolled at the University of Maryland University College where I am pursuing two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. I am in the process of completing my final nine credits and will be graduating in May 2019. I chose this area of study because I knew that I wanted to serve in a management capacity in the workforce and I have always aspired to become a business owner since early childhood.
Outside of my academic career, I have been fortunate enough to realize my childhood aspirations. For one, I have enjoyed a professional career in Accounting, Asset Management, Operations Management, and Procurement serving in management roles as a contractor at the National Archives and Records Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Department of State.
This is the part of my life I love the most:
The most exciting part of my life, though, is being a stay-at-home mom with three awesome kids! I’m married to a wonderful man, who is also a loving father, a multi-talented & gifted professional, and a God-fearing Pastor. I’m most definitely one that is dedicated to my family and church family. And, because both my family and ministry take up a lot of my time, I grow to love the freedom and flexibility that comes along with being a “mompreneur” more and more every day!
Becoming a “mompreneur” has allowed me to dedicate my time to being a small business owner, five times over! For one, I have been the owner of CHYÉ Marie Designs, a custom jewelry, event planning, and graphic design company for over 10 years. And secondly, I have been the owner of Leilani Confections, a thriving online bakery, for three years. Thirdly, I have been a Senior Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and Color Expert for three years. Fourthly, I am the owner of Butter Me Up! Naturally, an all-natural skincare, haircare, and cosmetics line for which I have been the sole owner for two years. And finally, I am over-the-moon about my fourth and newest business venture, Footprint Stationery where I create custom greeting cards, journaling cards, planners, metal beaded bookmarks, etc.
Here are a few of my favorite things:
Those that know me well know that I’m a complete “planner chick”, “craftinista”, and bookworm! I love creating things with my hands and turning the simplest items into the most unique DIY creations. And anytime I can get a book in my hands, I am in pure heaven! I could probably read all day if I could. Just give me a relaxing scenery, my planner and washi tape, and a good book and that’s my idea of a dream vacation!
Just in case you’re wondering……
Oftentimes I get the questions, “How do you balance being the wife of a pastor, a mom of three, a full-time student, and a serial entrepreneur? Just how do you balance it all?!” (I get this from women most of the time.) My answer is this: Girl, I don’t even try! The fact of the matter is that my life is not always peaceful and balanced. That is the God-honest truth! All the while, my approach is to it all is this: I do the best I can with what I’ve got and I thank God for it all – the good, the bad, and the ugly. I count my entire life and everything and everyone in it BLESSINGS!
